Library Services and Borrowing Policies
Library Cards
All library cards are
obtained at the circulation desk. To obtain a library card, you must be
able to provide documentation verifying your current address. You
can chose from either a keychain or wallet card and your first card is
free. Please notify the library if your library
card is lost or stolen. The library offers replacements for lost cards
for $1.00. The library also needs to be notified of any changes in name, address, or
telephone number. All cards will be renewed on a yearly basis.
Children under the age of 18 need a parent/guardian
with them for signature.
Patron must always pick up their own materials. If you
wish to authorize another person to pick up your material you may do so
by completing our Adult Designate form.
Your library card must be present each time items are
borrowed. You may renew most items twice, provided they have not been
reserved by another patron. Items may be renewed over the phone or vial
the Loudonville Library website. Library cards can only be used by the
designated cardholder.
Automated Catalog
The Loudonville Public Library's
catalog is an online computerized system. Public terminals are located
across from the circulation desk. By typing the author, title, subject or
keyword of the item you need, you can find what the Loudonville Public
Library owns, as well as the holdings of other public libraries throughout
the state of Ohio. You will be able to view if the item is available or
checked out, if checked out, when it is due back; and its call number and
location. Most materials are accessible from the computer, from
children's picture books to videotapes. Staff members are always
available to assist you.
Reserves
Placing reserves is easier than ever. You can place a hold:
*At the circulation desk
*At terminals in the library
*By phone
*From your personal computer by accessing our card catalog through our
website
After Hours Returns
The library has a book drop
outside the west entrance of the library, and also one on North Bridge
Street next to Farmer's Bank in Perrysville. The library asks that you return only
printed materials in the book drop. Videotapes, audiocassettes, and
compact discs can be ruined from temperature extremes, as well as from the
daily drop of items on top of them. (These audiovisual items must be
returned to the library.)
Overdue, Damaged or Lost Materials
You are responsible for all borrowed materials, including fines
and fees incurred for overdue, lost or damaged items.
Overdue Fines
Regular Materials- $0.10/day
Videos, DVDs, and KITS-$.50/day
There is a $5.00 patron fine limit; anyone exceeding this will need to pay
the fine below this amount before any more materials can be checked out.
An automatic charge of $0.50 for postage will be added to a borrower's
records for any overdue notice sent. This charge will be applied to each
notice, not each item.
